WHEELUS SOCIAL GROUPS AND RESEARCH SOURCES

The AOSHS has been a wonderful source of information regarding the life of the children and teenagers whose parents were stationed at Wheelus Air Base. They have a great collection of Yearbooks, which can be accessed online and many amazing photographs, of classrooms, teachers and children.

The AOSHS covers all overseas schools, for what they call U.S ‘military brats’, that being the children of the U.S Armed Forces. We would like to give special thanks to Doug Kelsey and Alan Gossman who have been invaluable in their help with this exhibition. 1

This brilliant facebook page is run by Mike Nemecek, who has been an amazing source of help to our project. He has supplied us with a vast amount of photographs and footage.

The page is full of information regarding Wheelus, with contributions from its many members. It has allowed us to take a look at the lives and memories of the staff, crew and their dependents, some of which have been kind enough to allow us to share their personal memories, which have been written exclusively for this exhibition.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Mike, and also Allan Lindsay and Steven T White, for allowing us to share their photos, cine footage and most important of all, their memories.
