The Tripoli Trotter
The Tripoli Trotter was an official Class III Air Force newspaper, published each Friday for the personnel and dependents of Wheelus Air Base. The paper was written and published by Wheelus personnel and contained reports of base news items, sports events and fixtures, details of upcoming trips and tours, notices for coffee mornings, a weekly television schedule and a question and answer forum1.
The Sunday Ghibli
The Sunday Ghibli was another English language newspaper, written and printed in Tripoli. It contained both American and English military news, sports and local news, entertainment information and a large variety of business and classified advertisements2.
THE STARS AND STRIPES
The Banner of the ‘Stars and Stripes’ Publication, Wikipedia Commons
The Stars and Stripes is a daily non profit American military newspaper, written and published by military personnel and civilians and is partly funded by the Department of Defense.The paper was available to purchase on base and covered local military and community news as well as latest events in the United States. This was warmly welcomed by crew and dependents, bringing them much wanted news from home3.
